The Perfect Black Pumps

While I was home for Spring Break, I found out I was accepted to a spring internship program in DC. After the initial excitement, I realized my work wardrobe was in desperate need of an update! First on the shopping list: a pair of black pumps.

As an intern last summer, I wore flats to work almost every day. However, I quickly noticed that a pair of classy black heels is part of the unofficial DC uniform. As much as I love the comfort of flats, even I have to admit that a skirt suit and heels is a serious power combo!

When it comes to the perfect black pumps, there are a couple of must-have factors. Here’s what I like about mine:

First and foremost, great heels must be comfortable. No matter how cute they might be, you’re not going to want to walk around the office all day in shoes that are giving you blisters. With soft lining at the heels and padded insoles, my Merona pumps definitely check this box!

Just like a good LBD, a pair of black heels can be worn for many different occasions. Although I bought mine for my spring internship, I also wore them to my sorority formal last night. Remember: just because you want your heels to be professional doesn’t mean they have to be matronly!

I love Merona’s heels because they are different from the traditional black pump. The pointed toe is sexier than a rounded look, and the 3.5 inch heels are super flattering for your calves. The shoes also come in multiple other colors, including red, coral and taupe.

I love the detail of having the arch of the foot revealed; it gives the versatile look an edgy yet refined vibe. Both elegant as well as eye catching taste, very well done!
